Jim Konor is an artist with studio based in Eastbourne UK.
Working from the memories and messages left by late Pop-Art movement, he wants to break through tradition and fashions and to work with multiple interesting themes and inspirations which includes the supernatural, the gothic, realism, erotica, spirituality, mystery, pulp-art, street art, grafitti, portraiture, architecture and magic.
The foundation of his excentric style comes from his early art experiments with surrealist ink-drawings and sci-fi fantasy illustrations done at the 90’s while at Architecture school. At the same period came a strong interest in French psychodelic Bande-Dessines and also in the romantics and surrealist artists. From this early period comes the characteristic feature of his paintings: The depiction of the human figure, The creation of characters and a passion for portraiture and human physiognomy.
Always working with attention to detail and precision in order to challenge visually the viewer, his paintings ideas always start at the pages of his sketchbooks. He creates exclusively using acrylics on canvas.
Jim Konor is also a comic-book creator having published so far in th UK the first episodes of the graphic novel series “The Light at the Top of the World ” and “The Baltic Caper”.
'The Light at the Top of the world' with its first part-The Temple of Naga, follows the supernatural adventures of the Victorian explorer Baron Buckman in his quest to discover the Gate of the Afterlife.
'The Baltic Caper' is an anti-hero manifesto to freely tell the stories of a powerful European organization that seeks veangeance on the account of the Hiroshima Nuclear disaster, raising from the dead siezing as much as possible all the money in the world. The line of expression of this comics is the gangster satire and the burlesque with a reminiscence of the 50's gouache painting style.
